CODE WORD

Location: Indoors
Minutes 15 PLUS
Formation none
Activity level Low
Age levels: Youth-adult, older, intergenerational
People 5-15
Supplies Words

Instructions:  Divide your participants up into groups of about four.  Each group will be given a word to incorporate into a three minute skit which they will make up.  The code word must be used at least three times during their skit.  After the skit is performed, the other groups try to guess what the code word was.

Leader's Hints:  Giving an example of using a word in a story or skit will help the group understand quickly what this game is all about.  No group ever thinks they have enough time to plan their skit.  Five to ten minutes is plenty of planning time.  Remind your groups that these skits are not going to be performed on Broadway and to have fun in making them.  This game is very easily themed.  You can either tell the group what the theme is, or you can select a theme and let the entire group try to guess it at the end of the game.
