Offertory Sentences

Rather than say, “Let’s take up the offering,” it is best to introduce the offering very simply with a Scripture verse related to the giving of our tithes and offerings.

Here are some suggested verses.

1
Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35.

2
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Mathew 5:16.

3
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. Matthew. 6: 19, 20

4
Let every person do according as is disposed in his heart, not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:6, 7.

5
To do good, and to distribute, forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:16.

6
All things come of you, O LORD, and of your own have do we give to you.
I Chronicles 29:14.
